About Us

Hi, I’m Stacie, the owner and director of The Barnyard Preschool.

I’ve spent over 15 years working in early childhood education. I hold an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Cuesta College and a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies for elementary teaching from Cal State Channel Islands.

A few years ago, I opened The Barnyard to create the kind of space I always felt was missing—something more personal, more connected, and truly centered around play.

At The Barnyard, we are a play-based preschool serving children ages 2–5. Our days are rooted in a consistent, predictable rhythm while still allowing plenty of room for curiosity, creativity, and exploration. We spend a large portion of our day outdoors, and we fully embrace messy play and hands-on learning — giving children opportunities to challenge themselves, build confidence, and develop independence in a safe and supported environment.

We focus on social-emotional development, practical life skills, and building strong relationships within our classroom community. As children grow, we naturally weave in early academic foundations and pre-k readiness in a way that feels engaging and developmentally appropriate, never rushed or pressured.

Above all, our goal is simple — to create a place where children feel safe, capable, and excited to come each day.
